Nana Boakye, the aspirant seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tema West, has stated that there is nothing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can do to win the constituency.
The NPP’s parliamentary aspirant said the candidate the NDC is presenting in the constituency is the same one fielded in previous elections that he defeated while serving as a campaign manager and is confident of defeating him as a parliamentary candidate.
Nana Boakye argued that, although it will be his first time on the ballot paper, he will defeat the NDC’s candidate in the December 7 contest.
“It is not going to happen that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is going to take the seat away from us. And it must interest you to know that the candidate they presented, who had about 29,000 votes, is the same candidate they are presenting now. It is this same candidate I beat as a campaign manager.”
“He has been a candidate before and has been on the ballot before, while I have not been on the ballot before, but I am not a new face to the people of Tema West and the people of Tema. I was born and bred in Tema.”
He also told Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM that he will prioritize eliminating youth unemployment when elected as MP.
“Africa and Ghana are sitting on a youth unemployment time bomb, waiting for it to explode, and it is very dangerous for all of us. We cannot recruit all unemployed graduates into state and government agencies, but what I intend to do is to copy a model I learned from Buckingham College in England, where they train unemployed youth to be employable, and train youth, giving them skills and having a proper exit plan for them.”
