The Municipal Chief Executive of Korle Klottey Assembly, Samuel James Nii Adjei Tawiah, says the construction of the Odawna market in the Korle Klottey Municipality is experiencing delays due to drainage and resettlement issues.
His remarks come after the inaugural ceremony of the 3rd Assembly of the Korle Klottey Municipality, at the Kwame Nkrumah Water Park.
In an interview with Citi News, Samuel James Nii Adjei Tawiah emphasized the importance of thorough planning for the market renovation.
He expressed optimism that the government would provide a resettlement package for residents around the construction site to expedite the completion of both the market and the drainage system.
“There are resettlement issues regarding the building of Odawna market because when it rains there is water all over the place, and it causes a lot of problems. This is one of the places where necessary planning needs to go into, and the drains need to be done first before building the Odawna market.
By the end of the month, I won’t be surprised if the resettlement packages meant for the people to relocate from the affected areas would be received. And that would open the door for the Odawna market and the rest of the project.”
