A tragic accident occurred on the Kumasi-Accra highway early Monday morning, as a VIP bus with registration number AP 7842-21 reportedly knocked down a young woman at Odumase.
The incident occurred around 6 am after the bus departed from Accra at 3 am.
Eyewitnesses, speaking to Citi News, described the harrowing scene, with one individual commending the swift response of the ambulance service.
According to the witness, the young woman was attempting to cross the road when she was struck by the bus. The driver of the VIP bus was able to swerve and avoid a direct impact, but the woman was still injured in the collision.
He explained that fortunately, an ambulance was passing by at the time of the accident and stopped to provide immediate medical attention to the injured woman.
The victim was said to be bleeding profusely and in need of urgent care. Another ambulance was called to transport her to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Following the incident, the driver of the VIP bus reported the accident to the police station in the vicinity.
“We were on the right and he was coming from the left. The trailer was coming and immediately she tried escaping the trailer when she was crossing the road, She came to meet our vehicle right at the driver’s side, so our driver was fast enough to gear off the road, scratch her a bit and that got her hurt.
“Fortunately, there was an oncoming ambulance, so they stopped though they had someone in. They stopped, attended to her for a while and then they called in for another ambulance to come and attend the one who was injured. She was bleeding profusely. We stood there for a while, the driver made a report at the police station nearby.”
