The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened the registration portal for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates as well as candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This was disclosed during a press briefing by the Head of Public Affairs at the WAEC, John Kapi on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Mr Kapi emphasized the importance of stakeholders adhering to the outlined processes, stating that the portal was opened for the registration of candidates on Monday, 11th March 2024 and will be closed on Friday, 19th April 2024.
The BECE for school and private candidates 2024, he said, will be administered from Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12, 2024.
He added that implementing the common core curriculum will require different examination procedures for School Candidates taking the BECE compared to private candidates.
Candidates will therefore be examined based on the common core curriculum, while private candidates will be examined on the old syllabus, hence, all private candidates are advised to be careful when selecting their subjects.
