Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of doing everything possible to protect the former Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Rev Dr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
Rev Owusu-Amoah is alleged to have served for three years without a contract after his retirement.
Mr Ablakwa’s allegation follows two alleged intercepted letters, both dated March 26, 2024, and titled ‘Extension of service as Commissioner General of GRA’, indicating extensions from October 11, 2021, to October 10, 2023, and from October 11, 2023, to March 31, 2024, respectively for the former GRA boss.
In an X post seen by Citi News on Wednesday, Mr Ablakwa noted that President Akufo-Addo provided the retired GRA boss with the two belated contracts to cover his tracks, and questioned whether this would be enough to save the Reverend.
“Intercepted letters from the Presidency shockingly reveal that President Akufo-Addo is hell-bent on doing everything possible to protect GRA Commissioner General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah who served for close to three years without a contract after retirement.”
“President Akufo-Addo now grants the retired GRA boss two belated contracts to cover his tracks. But would this be enough to save the beleaguered Reverend? What a government!” he stated.
