Disgruntled employees of PBC Limited have appealed to the government for intervention to prevent the company from further deterioration, cautioning of a large-scale protest due to the company’s declining state.
Dressed in red bands, the workers gathered at the Ashanti Regional office of the Ghana COCOBOD to express their grievances.
They urged state agencies to probe the management members concerning financial matters.
These distressed workers, spearheaded by the leadership of the Pressure Group of PBC Limited, bemoan the difficulties caused by the government’s inability to pay ten months of salary arrears.
The employees are calling for the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to scrutinise the status of the company’s sample residue account.
The leadership of the group is also requesting the government to involve some former board members of PBC Limited in the investigation of the issues raised.
The group intends to carry out a series of actions until their concerns are resolved.
During the protest in Kumasi on Wednesday, Seth Adusei, the Vice Chairman of the Pressure Group of PBC Limited, spoke to journalists, stating that the members are enduring hardships.
