The family of the deceased miner whose friends attacked and assaulted health professionals at the Suhum Government Hospital over alleged negligence have rendered an unqualified apology to the staff and management of the hospital.
The family who denied their involvement in the unfortunate incident have also agreed to take responsibility for all damages caused at the facility.
A brother of the deceased miner Obed Frimpong who spoke to the media after the emergency meeting with the management of the hospital exonerated the staff of the hospital from all the allegations levelled against them by friends of the deceased who orchestrated the attack.
“The allegation that my brother died due to medical negligence is untrue. I can attest to the situation. I witnessed my brother’s pulse at 21 so one nurse and a doctor tried and brought his pulse to 70 to 80. We even had hope of his survival but it went back within a minute. What his friends did was out of pain because they felt a person they had spoken to a few minutes ago could not pass away like that.”
“We will apologise to the Ministry of Health and Suhum Government Hospital for the whole situation. The family is ignorant of the attack and we urge you to forgive us. The death of my brother was a natural one.”
Obed Frimpong who also revealed that the family is currently negotiating with the management of the hospital for the release of the remains of their relative for the onward burial process also stated the stance of the family to take responsibility for all damages caused at the facility.
“The family has agreed to settle for the damages caused by his friends as we seek the hospital’s help to release our brother so we can bury him. So that is the arrangement we are having with the hospital now.”
