The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has appealed for calm and restraint in the ongoing dispute between Adamus Resources Limited and Nguvu Mining Limited.
The Ministry urges both parties to avoid engaging in public debates and media confrontations that could compromise the ongoing court proceedings and instead allow the legal process to run its course.
The Ministry’s appeal for calm comes amidst the protracted disputes surrounding the management of Adamus Resources Limited, particularly following the Accra High Court’s appointment of an Interim Management Committee (IMC) on July 27, 2023, which has been met with fierce opposition and resistance from certain parties.
Despite their best efforts, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) has encountered numerous hurdles in executing their responsibilities. In a recent incident on April 17, 2024, the committee was forcibly denied access to the company’s operational headquarters in the Ellembelle District by security personnel and police officers, thereby preventing them from conducting a scheduled familiarization tour of the facilities and engaging with employees, further exacerbating the ongoing impasse.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has expressed concern over the ongoing disputes between Adamus Resources Limited and Nguvu Mining Limited, which are hindering the smooth operation of Adamus Resources Limited and jeopardising the government’s interests as a shareholder and key stakeholder in the company.
In a statement released on June 27, the ministry clarified that neither it nor the government is a party to the ongoing legal proceedings before the High Court in Accra, emphasising its neutral stance in the matter.
It assured to take necessary measures to engage the parties for an amicable resolution of the matter, calling on them to desist from actions that could jeopardise the running of the company.
“The Ministry will, however, take the necessary measures to engage the parties to attempt an amicable resolution of the matter. In the meantime, the Ministry calls on all parties to refrain from dealing with the matter in the media or taking such actions that could prejudice the fair adjudication of the matters in court. The Ministry, also, urges the parties to refrain from actions that tend to jeopardise the smooth running of the Company, pending the determination of the matters before the Court.”
The ministry said records available at the Minerals Commission indicates that Nguvu Mining holds 90% shares in Adamus Resources Limited, while government holds the remaining 10%.
“As at the date of this Press Release, records available at the Minerals Commission indicates that Nguvu Mining holds ninety percent (900/0) shares in Adamus Resources Limited, while Government holds the remaining ten percent (10%), and this remains the status quo until otherwise determined by a court of competent jurisdiction. The Ministry has faith in the courts of our country to deal with all the matters in issue.”
