Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has reaffirmed his position on the ongoing controversy involving the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) hotels.
Despite Bryan Acheampong, the owner of Rock City, strongly denying allegations that his hotel is unprofitable, Ablakwa insists that documents he has intercepted suggest otherwise.
He maintains that these documents indicate that Rock City is financially struggling and should have been disqualified from the bidding process under the Income Tax Act of 2015.
In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Point Blank on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Ablakwa stated that he always bases his arguments on facts and documents. In this case, the documents he has obtained reveal a concerning financial situation for Rock City.
He pointed out that Rock City did not file their returns for 2021 and 2022, suggesting financial struggles.
Ablakwa further revealed that Rock City approached the GRA in March 2023, predicting losses and no profit for the year, which further highlights the company’s financial difficulties.
He added that he had made these documents available for scrutiny.
“On Bryan Acheampong’s claims, I always speak to facts, I always speak to documents. When I say I have intercepted documents, I have indeed intercepted documents. I have since made those documents available and the documents are clear.
“All the filings of Rock City at GRA from 2021, a struggling Rock City for two years they didn’t even file their returns 2021 and 2022. So, they could not even have had the GRA tax clearance certificate which is one of the legal issues we are raising now that they should have been disqualified under the Income Tax Act of 2015.”
“So, I have made the documents available, all the filings have been made available and for 2023 they went to the GRA in March and said they will make losses, they will not make a profit for 2023, March this year,” he stated.
