The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has admonished party members to unite to break the 8-year cycle of governance.
During a meeting with constituency executives in the Central Region on Saturday, March 23, Mr. Kodua Frimpong emphasized the importance of reconciliation, stating that success in the 2024 polls depends on ending internal disputes.
He highlighted the need for parliamentary candidates to embrace their roles in fostering unity, warning that failure to reconcile would lead to electoral defeat.
The NPP General Secretary called for a fresh start for the Central Region, advocating for an end to animosity and the beginning of mutual forgiveness.
“If we can’t forgive one another and start a new chapter, we should forget about power. If we are not able to forgive one another, any move by anybody seeking elections will lose in the 2024 polls. If you are a DCE and want to contest a parliamentary seat, you will fail. Shame will befall any constituency chairman where a seat will be lost. What at all do we want? What do we want as political party executives?
“We want power, I don’t mind going to John Boadu, our former general secretary to acquire his political knowledge for me to win power. If we win the elections, it’s my name that will be mentioned not his. And so, if you are a parliamentary candidate and you think that you will not work and collaborate with people who didn’t support you, then you don’t understand the responsibilities given to you.
“If you are constituency chairman or executive and the one you supported didn’t win and so you will not support the parliamentary candidate. Then you don’t understand your role in the party. Today should mark a new beginning for the central region, hatred, and bitterness will cease today, forgive one another.”
