The New Juaben North and South Health Emergency Management Committees will today [Tuesday] convene an emergency meeting to re-strategise on how to effectively prevent community spread of COVID-19.
This has become necessary following the two confirmed cases of coronavirus recorded in Koforidua.
The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appau Gyasi, said the new cases were unfortunate but assured that his assembly was going to do everything possible to prevent the spread of the disease.
According to him, various community information centres and the information service department will be engaged to enhance public education on the need to strictly adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols.
“I think that we have put in place the various strategies to combat COVID-19. We are going to stick to the protocols which the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has drummed home to all of us.”
“We are going to make sure we intensify the sensitisation with respect to the handwashing protocol and the social distancing protocols and of course the wearing of face masks,” he said.
Mr. Gyasi further indicated that the Health Emergency Management Committee has prepared adequately to handle the two confirmed cases.
Ghana’s case count of the novel Coronavirus has increased to 6,808 of which 106 are in the Eastern Region, according to the Ghana Health Service’s May 25 update.
The Greater Accra Region is still leading the chart with 4,836 cases, followed by the Ashanti and Central Regions with 1,062 and 306 cases respectively.
