Police at Oyibi in the Greater Accra Region say they have still not apprehended a suspect who cut the left arm of a 39-year-old University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) employee.
The incident, which happened about a week ago, left the victim, Atsu Kudohor, in a critical condition.
The suspect, Benjamin Mensah Larteh who is the son of the chief, allegedly attacked Kudohor, when the victim went to report the theft of his goat at the chief’s house, at New Sasabia village near Oyibi, along the Adentan-Dodowa road.
The Oyibi police say though they have commenced investigations, the Accra Regional Police command has also requested for the docket of the case.
“So we are still on the streets looking for him. The Regional Headquarters have requested for the dockets to be transferred to them. We are preparing the docket and then forward it to them by Monday or Tuesday. Those people who were present and are supposed to assist us to arrest him have also not come to say that they have seen him somewhere.”
However, the family of the victim suspects collusion between the chief and the police, as they claim this is the fourth time the perpetrator has committed such a heinous act within the community.
Nephew to the victim, Raymond Kofi Budu, said that even though the chief has been in contact with the suspect, he has refused to disclose his location to the police.
