The Kaneshie District Court presided over by Her Worship Ama Adomako Kwakye has adjourned to February 15, 2021, a case involving 41-year-old Daniel Dah Komlah who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the burning of the Kantamanto market.
The complainant, Inspector Richard Amoah, and a team of security operatives arrested the suspect following a post on his Facebook timeline, threatening to burn down the market a few days before the incident happened.
In an interview with Citi News, the suspect Daniel Komlah indicated that he was not guilty of the charges levelled against him.
“The name attached to the message they showed me is Daniel T. But my official Facebook account bears the name, Daniel Komlah Dah. I never posted such a thing on my Facebook timeline nor any other social media account. I am a Christian. I was at the church premises when they arrested me and brought me here. They have been forcing me to admit to something I know nothing of. Besides, I have never been to the said Katamanto, I am from Ho.”
The legal representative for the suspect, Francis Xavier Sosu said he is disappointed at the level of abuse against his client.
“I don’t think that this should be happening in a democratic country such as ours. The police cannot just drag a suspect into their car and take him away, without letting him know what his offence is. In an attempt to enforce the law, the police must be careful not to abuse the laws of the land.”
“There is no truth whatsoever in the allegation against him. I will like to make it clear that I will be the last person to defend him if he was indeed guilty as charged,” he stressed.
