PR Boys in collaboration with the GIJ Alumni Association has ended its week-long alumni homecoming 2022 celebrations at the North Dzorwulu Campus of Ghana Institute of Journalism.
The program held on the theme “The Communications Professional: A View of Yesterday, a Sense of Tomorrow’, was scheduled between August 22 to 26, 2022.
The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, in his address called on students to optimize opportunities to be resourceful in the corporate world which is undergoing a technological revolution.
Speaking on the merger of other universities with GIJ, the Rector of GIJ, Prof Kwansah-Aidoo, applauded the organizers and reassured the alumni community, stating that “GIJ will still be their home”.
A PR and Projects Consultant and team member of PR Boys, Mr. Kofi Atiemo shared the sustainable vision with the GIJ Alumni Association in making the homecoming an annual event.
The program was characterized by a football gala on August 20 at the Ghana Prisons Park and the 2020 Year Group led by Philip Sarbah was crowned the winners.
A member of the Planning Committee from PR Boys, Mr. Jackson Osei Ntiamoah, explained that it aimed at maintaining alumni relationships for networking and also providing mentorship for continuing students.
Among the list of alumni present at the closing ceremony were Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture; Mr Gayheart Mensah, Communications Consultant and President of the Alumni; Miss Mamavi Goh, Public Relations officer at the Forestry Commission. Others who spoke with the students were Mr Umaru Sanda Amadu of Citi FM and TV, Dr. Ernest Koranteng, Mr Saddick Adams alias Sports Obama. The Rector of the Institute, Prof Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, Vice Rector Professor Eric Opoku Mensah and Mr Mac Kwame.
