In a show of solidarity and support, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has engaged with the party’s sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) who unfortunately lost their re-election bid in the parliamentary primary conducted on May 13, 2023.
The gathering saw the presence of influential figures within the NDC, including Fifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the party, and the leadership of the Minority Caucus in Parliament.
Additionally, key personalities such as Julius Debrah, a former Chief of Staff, and Prof. Joshua Alabi, the Convener of the John Mahama 2024 Primary Campaign, were in attendance.
The focus of the meeting centered around providing solace and encouragement to the 17 sitting MPs who lost their re-election bid but remain committed to helping the party win the 2024 elections.
Among the notable MPs present were Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini from Sagnarigu, Mrs. Della Sowah from Kpando, Edward Bawa from Bongo, and Wisdom Gidisu from Krachi East. The gathering also included Dr. Kwabena Donkor from Pru East, Angela Alorwu-Tay from Afadzato South, Kobena Mensah Woyome from South Tongu, Alex Adomako from Sekyere Afram Plains, Abeiku Crentsil from Ekumfi, and Albert Alasoka from Garu.
The remaining MPs in attendance were Sampson Chiragia from Navrongo Central, Augustine Tawiah from Bia West, Christian Otuteye from Sege, Peter Kwakye Ackah from Amenfi Central, Thomas Adda Dalu from Chiana-Paga, and Sophia Ackuaku from Domeabra-Obom, who has switched to contest in Ayawaso Central.
This gathering symbolizes the NDC’s commitment to nurturing its members and acknowledging the valuable contributions made by these MPs, despite their recent electoral setback.
The former President expressed his unwavering support for their future endeavors and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their dedication to serving the party and the nation.
