The Member of Parliament for Effutu, who also serves as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has vowed to protect anything that belongs to the people of Effutu.
According to the MP, some elements within Effutu are deliberately tarnishing the image of the people of Effutu with lies.
His comments come after a recent demonstration by some youth groups within Effutu, calling for an end to the sale of the Ramsar site in Effutu by some government officials for lithium mining.
The MP denied the allegation that the government has sold that portion of land meant for deer hunting, adding that the NPP government has the interests of the people of Effutu at heart; hence, the allegation must not be taken seriously.
“Some people are deliberately spewing lies that the NPP government has sold the Ramsar site of the people of Effutu for lithium mining. But I want to assure you that if there is any party that can protect the property of Effutu, it is the NPP party. As an MP, I have also vowed to protect the interests of the people of Effutu. But I want to assure the NDC that no better candidate can contest me in Effutu. That person will fall.”
