Chinese business moguls in the Jiangxhi Province have declared their intentions to invest over 10 billion US Dollars in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The target areas of the Chinese include modernized agriculture, science and technology, and infrastructure expansion.
These will include expansion of the Tamale Airport, road network, high-rise buildings and building of factories to boost government’s flagship, one-district-one-factory programme.
The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed caught the attention of the Chinese investors during his recent visit to the People’s Republic of China.
He said the investors have shown interest in the processing of shea, mango, watermelon, soya beans and other economic crops in the value chain.
Salifu Sa-eed told Citi News that the Chinese investors are expected to visit the Northern Region early in June 2018 for further deliberations.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to create more jobs for the youth through such initiatives.
He re-echoed the need for peaceful coexistence to attract more investors to the Northern Region.
He further underscored the need for the mainstream media to highlight the business potentials of the region.
Salifu Sa-eed has, since his assumption of office, been making frantic efforts to build synergies with development partners.
On April 24, 2018, he launched a project dubbed, “Northern Development First” to showcase the region’s investment potentials to Iranian investors.
He officially launched the project in the Islamic Republic of Iran, where he led a high-powered delegation to renew the region and the Iranian government’s bilateral relations.
He encouraged the Iranian business community to support the region in the agricultural, educational and health sectors.
The Ghanaian delegation also met with Iranian officials from the ministries of Industry, Mines and Trade, Health and Medical Education.
He said government will continue with the economic co-operation and strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
