Zenith Bank has been awarded Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard and ISO 27001 certificates confirming the bank’s strong systems to guard against cyber attacks.
The certification follows months of building systems to protect Zenith bank’s data and customers’ deposits.
The move also comes at a time where the cyber fraud cases in the financial system are rising.
According to the Managing Director of Zenith Bank Henry Oroh, the affirmation is to strengthen the bank’s presence in Ghana.
“The last thirteen years have been very good and today we mark it with the certification of the PCI DSS and the ISO 27001. For us that also improve our posturing in the market place, it also improves the security of our systems and it also enriches the way our products and services are delivered to the customer.”
Mr. Oroh added, “With what we are able to build with our technology, we are able to say that Zenith Bank Ghana and our customers are safe.”
The Bank of Ghana is currently working on cyber security guidelines for banks and allied financial institutions to safeguard the industry.
Zenith Bank’s current status has also been possible through the support, coaching and guidance of information value chain consultants, Digital Jewels.
Meanwhile, Henry Oroh believes that the bank will sustain its robust systems to qualify for the annual assessments and review of the certification.
“The cyber issues you cannot wish them away and they will always be present as well as businesses are present. As much as businesses embrace digitalization, e have to be more concerned about cyber issues…for that reason, this certification is just the beginning of a long journey,” he assured.
Zenith Bank joins a league of less than five banks that have assumed the ISO and PCI DSS certification status.
The bank also says the award strengthens its footprint as it marks thirteen years of operating in the Ghanaian market.
