The police have said they will ensure a peaceful by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on Thursday.
A statement from the Accra Regional command says officers will be stationed at all six electoral areas while others patrol the constituency to ensure an incident-free exercise.
[contextly_sidebar id=”u1ndw5yyhznSwRCSlEtMlHld8D7SuvaE”] The Public Relations Officer for the Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Efia Tenge has however cautioned against any acts of lawlessness that would mar the peaceful conduct of the election.
“We are going seeing some foot patrol and motorbike patrol; the regional commander has stated that the police is not going to tolerate any act of lawlessness on the part of anyone. We expect that this exercise would be done in the best of peaceful manner,” she said.
Meanwhile, supporters of the New Patriotic Party in Ayawaso West Wuogon believe the late MP, Emmanuel Agyarko has done enough in the constituency to propel the party to victory in tomorrow’s by-election.
“Looking at what her late husband did for the constituency we are assured that she would do more because she was behind and supported him when he was alive,” a supporter said.
“This constituency has seen a major infrastructure development, looking at the thing he had planned out for the constituency it would only make sense to vote for his wife, so she can continue with what her husband started,” another said.
Background
