The Upper West Regional Police command is yet to secure any credible information on the murder of the Daffiama-Busie-Issa constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Richard Bayiviala Polibing was last Thursday shot in the head while returning from a funeral in his constituency.
The Upper West Regional police Commander, DCOP Peter Ndekugre said investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder.
But speaking for the first time since the murder, 92-year-old Mother of the slain chairman, Madam Kunkaama Bayiviala called on the police to expedite action on the case.
According to her, she wants those who killed her son to face the full rigours of the law.
“He was the one I depended on. He told me he was going out and has since not returned. I look for him all around but I can’t find him. I am worried. I look here and there but I can’t find him. Oh, Polibong is gone. He can no longer even respond to my call. I don’t know how to control myself.”
“I want the police to show me the perpetrators. They must tell me what my son has done to deserve this killing. It’s been long, they must tell me. I am begging them to speed up this matter so that my son can get justice. I want to know what he did wrong. The perpetrators must be apprehended Please help me tell the police that I can’t sleep,” she said.
The incident happened near Sagu, a village in the Wa municipality at about 9:30 pm on Thursday when the chairman was returning from a funeral in his constituency.
The Upper West Regional Organiser of the NDC, Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, who confirmed the incident to Citi News said the chairman and his driver were stopped by four men but his driver, upon realizing they were armed, tried to speed off.
He said one of the armed men shot the chairman in his head, killing him instantly.
