Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West George Andah has cut the sod for the construction of the Bawjiase Polyclinic in the Central Region.
The 50-bed Polyclinic, when completed, will cater to the health needs of residents of Awutu Bawjiase and its environs.
Speaking to Citi News during the sod cutting ceremony, George Andah who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Communications explained that the project is in fulfilment of the New Patriotic Party’s campaign promise of upgrading the health facility during their first term in office.
“Today that dream has been accomplished with the sod cutting ceremony to build a modern Polyclinic. Irrespective of our political ideologies health is something that we cannot joke with as a nation” the MP mentioned.
He indicated that since the population of the people in the district keeps increasing there is the need to upgrade the health facility to a Polyclinic to serve the need of the people.
“Our promise to also renovate the nurses quarters and the entire health centre which was built in 1948 and also provide incubator to the health centre to reduce maternal death in the district has been achieved through the help of the Rebecca Akufo Addo foundation.

Mr. Andah also charged staff of the Bawjiase Health Centre to enhance their human relations with patients who visit the facility because he has received a lot of complaints from individuals about their human relations.
“You must show some level of professionalism when dealing with patients, it is the only way to projecting this facility in a good light he mentioned. Having a good human relationship with your patient can also heal the person even before you administer drugs and all to them”, George Andah explained.
On her part, Acting Medical Superintendent for the health centre, Dr. Matina Johnson explained that staff of the hospital who are caught engaging in indiscipline acts towards patients would be dealt with by the hospital.
She also appealed to the Member of Parliament and other Non-Governmental Organisations to provide them with some medical equipment like an X-Ray machine, scanning machine, generator set and others.
