Police in the Central Region has begun investigations into an assault case where some officers from the RDF unit from the Police headquarters assaulted another Police Officer at the just ended Aboakyere festival in Winneba.
The Police Officer, Detective Inspector Frank Kpee of the Winneba Police Command had several bruises on his hands and his shirt and trousers were torn following the assault.

Speaking to Citi News, DSP Irene Oppong explained that, on May 4, 2019, Detective Inspector Frank Kpee reported a case of assault against Inspector William Akakpo and some personnel from the same unit.
According to the Police PRO, the Detective Inspector explained that he was in a taxi going home after the Aboakyere festival and that on reaching a spot close to the Winneba taxi rank, Inspector William Akakpo of the RDF unit directed his taxi to divert its route.
Frank Kpee tried to convince Akakpo that his action was causing vehicular traffic on the stretch but he [Akakpo] instead got angry, dragged detective Frank Kpee from the taxi and physically assaulted him.
“Inspector William Akakpo and his men physically assaulted the officer in the presence of witnesses,” the Police PRO noted.
DSP Irene Oppong explained that the Regional Police Command is waiting for the administrative report from Winneba to aid in investigations.
“The Police as an institution, we have laid down procedures to deal with issues of such nature and we will follow them to bring justice to the matter,” DSP Irene Oppong added.
