The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has warned its drivers against reckless driving.
GRA was compelled to issue the directive following Citi FM/Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline campaign which is exposing such impunity on roads in the country.
According to the Authority, such driving has put its name into disrepute after some of its chauffeurs were captured on camera violating some of the road traffic regulations.
The GRA in a statement signed by its Commissioner-General, Emmanuel Kofi Nti said the authority had received reports that some its uniformed officers in official vehicles have been violating traffic regulations with impunity.

“I write to warn all GRA drivers to desist from these negative practices immediately. I also wish to appeal to management staff being chauffeured by drivers in uniform to bring sanity into the indiscipline behaviour of their drivers.”
Punitive actions
GRA in the statement said it will not hesitate to sanction any member of its transport team should they be seen engaging in reckless driving.
“Henceforth, severe sanctions would be applied as required to any GRA driver who goes against the general driving regulations and brings the good name of GRA into disrepute. In particular, unauthorised use of the siren is prohibited,” portions of the GRA statement added.
The #WAI campaign
Citi FM and Citi TV’s #WarAgainstIndiscipline campaign against all forms of indiscipline on our roads began early in May to avert the increasing loss of lives through road carnage due to recklessness and general disregard for traffic regulations.
This particular campaign will also put regulatory bodies on their toes to ensure that the various road safety laws are enforced.
Since the commencement of the campaign the station has received endorsement from divers, passengers, and some state institutions.
The campaign continues on Citi FM, Citi TV, citinewsroom.com and the station’s social media platforms to draw attention the nuisance caused by drivers and motorbike riders on Ghana’s roads.
The general public is also encouraged to take videos and photos of persons who engage in these offences and send them to the official station’s WhatsApp contact – 0549986996 for onward forwarding to the appropriate quarters.
