The Police in the Central Region has granted bail to two individuals who witnessed and filmed sexual intercourse between an eighteen-year-old man and a thirteen years old pupil in a video that went viral.
In the viral video suspect, Emmanuel Quayson was seen having sexual intercourse with a thirteen-year-old pupil in an uncompleted building whiles two unidentified men filmed the act.
Speaking to Citi News in an interview DSP Irene Oppong the Central Regional Police PRO explained that whiles suspect Emmanuel Quayson was defiling the girl, Abraham Mensah and Desmond Asmah chanced on them in the uncompleted building and forced suspect Emmanuel Quayson to continue the act whiles Desmond Asmah filmed.
Abraham Mensah with a cane in his hand threatened to beat suspect Emmanuel Quayson if he stops the action.
DSP Irene Oppong indicated that the two individuals together with suspect Emmanuel Quayson have been granted bail whiles investigation is ongoing.
“On the 17th of July 2019, the girl’s father went to Komenda police station to file a report that suspects Emmanuel Quayson 18 years of age defile his 13-year-old daughter in an uncomplete building and as the suspect was defiling the girl Abraham Mensah and Desmond Asmah chanced on them in the uncompleted building, Abraham Mensah with a cane in his hand, instructed that the suspect continue defiling the girl or he will be them whiles Asmah recorded the scene. The case has been sent to court in Cape Coast, and currently all the three suspects have been granted bill, the case is ongoing,” she said.
Defilement cases in Ghana went up by 25.7% in the year 2017.
Statistics from the Ghana Police service show that the Greater Accra Region recorded the highest number of such cases in the year under review.
According to the Annual Crime statistics released by the Ghana Police Service, a total of 1,686 defilement cases were recorded nationwide in 2017 compared to 1,341 recorded in the previous year.
