President Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to receive the report on the investigations into the breaches in the Concession Agreement of the Power Distribution Services (PDS) this week
Two teams were tasked to probe allegations of contractual breaches between government and PDS.
The teams were sent to Qatar and the United States for the probe.
The suspension of the agreement with PDS led to ECG temporarily resuming its operations.
Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide told Citi News that key stakeholders will check with the President’s schedule and make the report available to him as soon as possible.
“As you aware, the President has been out of town. The report to my understanding is that it has been ready and I am sure that we will check with the President’s schedule and as soon as possible his excellency will receive the report.”
Inquiry into PDS debacle completed– Oppong Nkrumah
Last Friday, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah indicated that the inquiry into the breach in the concession agreement with Power Distribution Service (PDS) had been completed.
The government announced a suspension of the concession agreement with PDS, after the detection of fundamental and material breaches of obligation in the provision of Payment Securities.
The PDS concession was suspended on July 30, 2019, leading to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited temporarily re-assuming power distribution responsibilities in Ghana.
There have been reports of forged documents by some partners, prompting Government to begin an enquiry into possible lapses in the deal which was part of a key requirement of Ghana by the US government for an over $400 facility to improve power services in the country under the Millennium Compact II.
