The National Council of Zongo Chiefs has expressed satisfaction with President Akufo-Addo’s comments on the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) programme.
The President in his first remark on the matter at the St. Cyprians Anglican Church in Kumasi over the weekend assured Ghanaians that his administration will not implement a CSE programme that does not conform to the values of the Ghanaian people.
Speaking to Citi News, the General Secretary of the National Council of Zongo Chiefs, Suleman Naaba Sigirie said the Muslim community welcomes the President’s comments.
“If he has come out boldly and said he will never allow this in his government, then we welcome this idea. It is a very good thing. The President has done well and we are very happy to hear his voice. If he the President has intervened then definitely, there’ll be calm in the system. Everybody will be calm,” he said.
Other faith-based organizations such as the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) have also expressed confidence in President Akufo-Addo’s assurances of not introducing CSE in Ghana’s Education curriculum after he held meetings with them concerning the matter on Monday.
Addressing journalists after the meeting with the Nana Akufo-Addo, President of GPCC Reverend Professor Paul Yaw Frimpong-Manso said “What is known is that now there is no more CSE. The President has spoken and we trust him”.
