The Sunyani Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Sunyani Traditional Council has closed down the Nana Bosoma Market after traders failed to comply with social distancing protocols.
The Nana Bosoma Market is the biggest Market in the Bono Region and attracts traders from within and outside the region every Wednesday.
Public Relations Officer of Sunyani Municipal Assembly, Reuben Oliver Avayevu has been speaking to Citi News on the closure and the measures they have put in place.
“We all know the rate at which coronavirus pandemic is spreading, for that matter at the Sunyani Municipal Assembly including the Sunyani Municipal Security Council in collaboration with the Nananom had a meeting and decided to take drastic measures on how to manage ourselves and the market so that people do not spread the disease in case it comes here. As we all know, Sunyani or Bono Region, to be precise, hasn’t recorded a case yet but there is an adage which says that prevention is better than cure and so for that matter, we have to make sure we find some satellite markets and then move the Wednesday market to such places to also enable us adhere to the social distancing.”
