A New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Asante Akyem South constituency, Eric Amofa is touting his ability to transform the fortunes of the constituency if he is given the nod by the party and subsequently by constituents to become their legislator.
He says the in spite of all the natural resources and other opportunities available to it, the constituency, like Asante Akyem Central, continue to lag behind in terms of development due to bad leadership.
He made the remarks at the launch of a two-week training program he is holding for polling station executives in the constituency.
The training, which commenced on 2nd May, 2020 will end on 16th May 2020 and is meant to empower the party activists to become self-employed and economically independent.
Mr Amofa said that training will result in the production of over 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizers, 1,000 packs of liquid soaps and 1,000 nose marks which will be distributed to all the trainees and their families as part of efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“We are currently organising a two-week skills training in the production of hand sanitiser, liquid soap, hair cream and disinfectants for all the 750 polling station executives of the party in the constituency, with the aim of making people economically independent,” he said.
Facemasks, hand sanitizers and liquid soaps have become essential products in the fight against COVID-19 as they offer some form of protection from the virus.
Mr. Amofa, an ex-banker and Deputy Organiser of the NPP in the UK who has slowed down his campaign due to the postponement of the party’s primaries said he is ready to serve the constituents and wanted them to entrust their destiny in the hands of a “vibrant visionary, dynamic, committed, competent and selfless leader like him.”
He stressed that he has grand plans to tackle problems such as youth unemployment, healthcare, education, water and sanitation.
The founder of NPP-Nottingham Chapter and NPP TESCON- UK, also promised an attractive and united NPP in the Asante Akyem South under his leadership to garner more support for the party.
“Being a good leader has nothing to do with age but the competency and capability of the person. That is what matters most…. I want the NPP delegates to vote for me in the party’s parliamentary primaries to bring the needed development to Asante Akyem South,” he told pressmen.
