Government is seeking an increment in the number of judicial committees and regional housing sittings to hasten the adjudication of outstanding disputes.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made this known at the inauguration of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs as part of his two-day tour of the Bono Region.
He said this will reduce the number of chieftaincy disputes in the country.
“Our nation’s socio-economic development has unfortunately resulted sometimes in full-blown conflicts, threats to our nation, destruction of properties, loss of lives, closure of education and health facilities and separation of families.
“In helping to stem the effects of this, government through the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has proposed the increase of the number of sittings of judicial committees and regional housing to hasten the adjudication of pending issues in order to bring closure to many outstanding disputes.”
President Nana Akufo-Addo has been commended for pushing for chieftaincy disputes to be reduced to the barest minimum across the country.
In a bid to end chieftaincy disputes, the Volta House of Chiefs, under the auspices of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs began a sensitisation programme to cover all 120 traditional areas in the region.
