Over one hundred students of four selected schools in the Greater Accra Region have benefitted from an engagement in commemoration of the International Literacy Day (ILD).
The Rotaract Club of Accra East Legon observed the day with students of Kotobabi’13’ JHS, St Francis Xavier R/C Basic School, Unity JHS and Darul Hijra-Islamic Basic School, all in Accra.
This year’s International Literacy Day was celebrated on the theme, “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”.
The students were thus educated on the concept of Literacy, its importance, and strategies of developing their capacities.
The beneficiaries, in groups, presented on a case study highlighting the various ways of using resources within one’s reach including television and radio programmes to improve and build on their competencies.
To support the academic needs of the pupils, mathematical sets were donated by the club to each pupil who participated in the event.
The exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Ayawaso North Municipal Education unit, represented by its Deputy Director and his two other team members.
A Literacy Consultant, Mr. Komi Nuvlo was specially invited to facilitate the session which took place on 16th September, 2022.
