The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) says plans are far advanced to deploy a taskforce to check congestion by traders selling on pavements within the Central Business Districts (CBD) in the national capital.
The move forms part of the Assembly’s quest to improve vehicular and pedestrian movement on walkways and is in line with efforts to make Accra one of the cleanest cities in Africa.
Speaking to Citi News, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey explained that the task force will be rotated to avoid familiarity with the traders.
“What we will try to do is to place our taskforce at various places and also get a timeline to rotate them to prevent them from familiarising themselves with the traders.”
