The former running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has urged the youth to follow in the footsteps of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, is revered globally for championing Ghana’s struggle for independence and implementing a multitude of developmental projects during his tenure.
Addressing the media at the Nkrumah Mandela Leadership Conference held on September 21, 2023, under the theme, “The Osagyefo and the Media: Global Africa in Search of Transformational Leadership in the 21st Century,” Naana Opoku Agyemang emphasized the importance of the youth to embrace selflessness and showcase the achievements of this Pan-Africanist in developing the nation.
“The youth of this country need to be selfless and emulate the footprints of the visionary leader,” she advised.
She reflected on the importance of fostering a mindset that is relentless in the pursuit of growth and change.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nkrumah’s party, has also promised to construct ultra-modern hospitals in all districts across the country if it wins the 2024 general elections.
The Ministry of Interior declared Thursday, September 21, as a public holiday to mark the Memorial Day of the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
