Independent presidential aspirant, Dr. Worlanyo Mensah, has pledged to champion the amendment of the two-term presidential limit to a single six-year term and abolish the office of the Council of State in his bid to enhance democracy.
He is among at least five individuals who have declared their intention to run as independent candidates in the presidential elections scheduled for December 7.
During a news conference in Accra on Thursday, Dr. Mensah said that if voted into power, the “Six-year one term for the presidency will be considered and discussed. Technological Innovation centers will be established throughout the country.”
The Upper chamber of parliament will also collaborate with the House of Chiefs for consideration. The Office of the Council of State will be scrapped. There will be no deputy regional ministers. The office of the traditional council will be reorganized.”
He also emphasized the need to disrupt the current political duopoly.
Dr. Mensah argued that his background in economics distinguishes him from other candidates.
