Osei Bonsu (OB) Amoah, the Minister of State at the Local Government Ministry, has stated that the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committed to promoting local economic development throughout the country.
Local economic development (LED) is a central part of developmental local government. It is a process that brings together different partners in the local area to work together to harness resources for sustainable economic growth.
He explained that the government is advocating for local economic development to become the standard for the nation’s local governance.
In a conversation with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News, the Minister of State at the Local Government Ministry emphasized that the government has made significant strides in terms of local development and plans to continue these efforts.
He further highlighted that the government has made substantial investments to facilitate the development of districts across the country.
“We may have our own challenges. People complain about sanitation, among other things, but a lot has been done, and a lot more will be done. For instance, if you talk about development, we have done a lot; we have invested so much, and we are still investing to ensure that these districts are well-developed.”
“We are now focusing more on even local economic development. It is going very well, and we are now pushing for that to become the paradigm for our local governance,” he said.
