Hundreds of daily commuters who use the Volta Lake Transport Company Limited ferry from Kwahu Adawso to Ekye-Amanfrom and continue to Afram Plains have been left stranded following the breakdown of the ferry.
Several vehicles loaded with yam and other farm produce have also been stuck since Sunday, March 10, due to this unfortunate situation.
The ferry, which was initially designed to run on two engines, has for the past year, been running on only one engine after one of the engines developed a mechanical fault, causing it to shut down.
The passengers are now being forced to use canoes that do not have life jackets just to cross the Volta Lake to the other side.
Traders and drivers who believe this undue delay will cause the yam and foodstuffs to go bad say they will run at a loss if authorities do not intervene within the shortest possible time.
