Members of the Locked-up Investment Holders Forum (LIHF) have disclosed that they were denied audience when they went to the Finance Ministry to check on the progress of a petition they submitted in November 2023 to demand the disbursement of their locked-up funds.
The members marched to the Finance Ministry after protesting at the Bank of Ghana head office.
Convener of the group, Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, told the media that there was absolutely nobody at the Ministry to receive them and that they were stopped by the Ministry’s security.
“We got the opportunity to meet the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and on Friday, I brought a letter to the Finance Ministry and I sent it to the Minister’s secretary and it is the same letter that I sent to the Bank of Ghana and the Bank of Ghana received us and said they were ready to revoke the licenses of the financial institutions and so if the government give assurances that it can provide funds for BoG to pay depositors, then it can revoke the licenses and we came to the Ministry to tell them what BoG said and also find out what the Ministry is doing to settle our debts and the security people are saying no Minister is here.
“The security told us that there is nobody in the Ministry to talk to us and it is unfortunate that nobody is here for us. If there is no official to receive us, then that is unfortunate.”
