A family is seeking justice over demolition of their $3 million property at Adjiringanor in the Greater Accra Region allegedly supervised by a police team.

The distressed family stated that the disputed land was purchased in 2001 from Joyce Baffoe-Bonnie Boakye [deceased]. Over a span of 20 years, several projects worth $3 million have been developed on this land without any legal disputes.

The family remembered being informed by neighbours about the demolition conducted by unidentified individuals under the supervision of armed police. They also recalled an illegal intrusion in July 2023, which was reported to the police.

The family is accusing Dr Harry Kporn-Dawson of allegedly orchestrating the demolition.

The family shared how the property’s destruction has severely impacted their father Kweku Aggrey’s health.

“On March 29, we were sleeping around 5:am, when I started receiving phone calls from one of our neighbours. He mentioned a batch of armed police officers numbering about 30, with about 50 land guards. Upon reaching there, we realised there were a lot of police officers, the police officers were not in uniform, only four of them were in uniform. They were holding riffles, with two excavators.

He stressed, “We told them the property belongs to our father and that the case is in court and there was an injunction. We asked the grounds upon which they were demolishing, and the commander showed us a writ of possession by Impasse Limited against deceased Joyce Boakye who sold the land to Nana Aggrey.

“We told them they can’t demolish because the matter is in court. My dad had a minor heart issue because of the incident. We petitioned the IGP, and property fraud. The police later said the document was given to them by one Dr Harry Kporn-Dawson who is claiming ownership of the land. He told the police he had a court order to demolish the developments on the land, he told them to execute on his behalf.”
