Ten persons have been confirmed dead after a boat accident at Kete Krachi on the Volta Lake in the Volta Region.
The Ghana Navy is currently searching for three persons who are still missing after the accident on Wednesday.
There are no details on the dead as yet.
The incident which claimed ten lives occurred when a boat travelling from Kete Krachi to Sopom with 45 persons hit a tree stump.
According to the District Chief Executive for Krachi West, Douglas Osei-Nti said seven of the survivors were taken to the hospital whilst the others did not need to be hospitalised.
“The boat landed on a stump or a tree in the lake and the tree perforated the bottom of the boat and the boat sank.”
“Seven were sent to the hospital and three were treated and charged immediately. Some survived and went away so they didn’t report to the hospital at all,” he told Citi News.
