The Citi Opportunity Project on Education (COPE) has stepped in to help Elvis Tefe, a student who sat for this years’ Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and was part of those who encountered challenges with their placements.
Following Citi News’ interview with him during the chaotic school placement exercise last month, he has gained admission to the Adisadel college to further his education.
Elvis is one of the many students who were caught up in the temporary confusion that characterized the 2019 computerised school placement into senior high schools.
Faced with genuine challenges, the diminutive but brilliant Elvis was lost for hope as he had no one to turn to.
After Citi News’ interview with him, COPE, one of Citi FM/TV’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, stepped in to put him on a scholarship programme.
Happily, for him, he gained admission to ADISADEL College which happened to be his first choice.
He has been admitted to study Visual Arts.
Elvis, together with his father, was received with a rousing welcome when he reported to the school.
An elated father of Elvis said he’s grateful for the opportunity.
