The $94 million Pokuase Interchange Project, which was recently upgraded to four-tier status, is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve urban mobility and benefit agro-industries located within the project zone.
The Interchange connects the Awoshie-Pokuase link, the proposed Pokuase-Ritz-Motorway roads, among others.
In August, the project, which commenced in April 2018, was said to be 40 percent complete.
Earlier this month, November, President Nana Akufo-Addo, said he was satisfied with the progress of work on the Interchange.
The supervising engineer on site had told President Akufo-Addo that drainage works, retaining walls, earthworks are being constructed on the Accra to Kumasi road approaches to the interchange, in addition to the 2.8 kilometres of various sizes of outfall storm drains constructed as part of the project to date.
Touching on the interchange itself, the engineer said that 99% of pile foundation works have been completed.
The Government is jointly funding the project with the African Development Bank.
The project is being undertaken by Zhongmei Engineering Group Limited, with Messrs Associated Consultants Limited (ACON) and the Bigen Group as the consultants.
Road works, including drainage and pavement works, are said to be far advanced, with most of the local roads identified for construction being concluded.
Additionally, some extra routes, which became necessary after a review of the works are currently far advanced and will be completed before the end of 2019, with over 10 kilometres of local community roads being completed within the catchment area of the interchange, according to the Presidency.
