The Chairman of the Police Council and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has charged the Ghana Police Service to act with professionalism and integrity in the 2024 polls.
Dr. Bawumia further advised the police to help consolidate the country’s democracy by ensuring a violence-free election.
Speaking at the 52nd Cadet Officers Graduation at the Police Academy in Accra, Dr. Bawumia said that the graduation of the cadet officers coincides with a crucial period as the nation gears up for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
“There’s no doubt that the police have been a credible institution in the provision of internal security in the democratic journey of the country since independence. Their long experiences and professionalism will once again be called upon in the coming elections. As you graduate from here, much will be expected of you to support and maintain the longstanding professionalism,” said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He also urged the police to use internal structures to settle their grievances rather than publicly voicing them.
