Some members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and some past students of the Prince of Peace International School at Bubuashie in Accra, on Thursday stormed the headquarters of the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to demand action against some members of the school’s management.
They are accusing management of the private school of misappropriating about GHc3 million of the school’s funds, per findings of an audit report.
The protests followed an earlier petition sent to the CID boss to expedite action on the audit report that is said to have indicted the authorities of the school.
The group of protestors also alleged that there was a cover-up orchestrated by some politicians and stakeholders in their community.
“Some under-hands felt that the audit report should not be dealt with for fear of being exposed so there are a lot of under dealings,” a parent, Steve Ekow Anderson, told Citi News.
He added that audit outlined “misappropriations, petty accounting procedures that were not adhered to in terms of procurement, in terms of reconciliation statements… the general management of the school was very bad.”
