A total of nine suspected criminals have been arrest by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) District Police at different locations of the university campus.
While five of the suspects were arrested by the night patrol team of the police, four others were grabbed after a swoop at a hideout.
Briefing the media at the UCC police station on Wednesday, the District Commander, ASP Mohammed Awal, said the night patrol team led by himself was patrolling the campus of the University on Monday when it intercepted a Nissan March taxi cab with registration number GN 4500-14 with four occupants.
He noted the police became suspicious, stopped the car and searched the occupants; they found a jackknife concealed in a desert boot worn by one of the occupants (suspects) named Hamza Mohammed aged 28.
He was arrested together with the other occupants on board the taxi, Prince Kojo Acquah, 26 years, Abdul Aziz aged 30 and Kwesi Ebenezer aged 27.

ASP Mohammed Awal added on the following morning (Tuesday) at 1:30 a.m., the Patrol Team again intercepted an 18-year old man named Richard Ankomah on the campus who had hidden in a textbook a crowbar and a screwdriver.
The suspect, according to the police, had posed as a student, but when the police quizzed him on the items concealed in the textbook, he could not give any tangible reason for possessing them.
He is currently in police custody assisting in investigations.
The final set of four suspects were also arrested on Wednesday in a swoop conducted by the police in and around the University.
All nine suspects are in police custody assisting in further investigations.
