A Member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Legal Team, Abraham Amaliba, has described the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu’s recent caution to public officials over receipt of ‘suspicious payments’ as needless, urging him to focus on his core mandate.
Mr. Amidu in an article warned public office holders and all Ghanaians against accepting suspicious payments into their personal bank accounts.

But Speaking on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily Show, Amaliba said the Special Prosecutor should focus on the core mandate of his office and stop whining about needless things.
“Who in public service does not know that you do not have to receive suspicious monies? Martin Amidu should concentrate on the mandate he has been given. Indeed Martin Amidu has not been resourced by the government to be able to perform his duties . Martin Amidu should avert his mind to that and ask the government to resource him.”
The Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu, had warned public office holders and all Ghanaians against accepting suspicious payments of public funds into their personal bank accounts.
In an article copied to Citi News, Mr. Amidu recounted how he ordered payments made to his bank accounts this year to be rejected after he found out his account had leaped more than five-fold.
It turned out the payment was in fulfillment of a court case in his favour.
Martin Amidu said individuals have an obligation to return any suspicious payments to enable them to be properly investigated for their genuineness before accepting same.
