The Black Queens will get their title defense underway on Wednesday evening when they face Senegal in their first game of the WAFU Zone B women’s tournament in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
The Queens won the tournament last year, beating host nation Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in the final.
Ghana’s other group A opponents are host nation Cote d’Ivoire and neighbours Togo.
Head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo says is happy with the strength of her squad and says her team is ready to defend their title.
“The girls have promised to go all out to defend the title. Every first game is very difficult, but I believe they will perform well with this mentality they have.
“If God does not come today, I expect the girls to deliver as they have promised. I believe in them,” she said.
The Black Queens squad contains eight of the players who won the competition last year, with Black Maidens sensation Mukarama Abdulai one of the new additions.
