The arrest of a man with a loaded gun in the Hamile Roman Catholic church disrupted market day activities in the area.
This is according to the assembly member for Hamile Morton electoral area in the Upper West Region, Emmanuel Dery
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday, the assembly member said people at the market closed early because they were scared of what the night might bring.

Police personnel manning Ghana’s borders to Burkina Faso at Hamile in the Upper West Region on Sunday arrested a Burkinabe with a loaded handgun at the Hamile Roman Catholic Church.
The suspect, a 55-year-old, was arrested at around 8 am, after members of the church raised alarm about his suspicious behaviour during a church service.
There have been fears that terrorist attacks could spread to Northern Ghana as some Burkinabes migrate to the northern parts of the country to seek refuge.
The Crime Officer of the Jirapa police command, DSP Richard Dapilah told Citi News the suspect will be put before court soon.
“He looked very suspicious so they decided to hint the Hamile police. We have placed the people on a high level of aware and alert because of the recent attacks in Burkina Faso so they immediately they informed the police and the police went in and immediately search him and during the search, we discovered the foreign pistol with two rounds of ammunition.”
“During his interrogation, he told me he acquired the pistol in Burkina Faso and licensed it there. He showed us the documents. We are holding him currently for possessing a firearm without authority,” he said.
Meanwhile, Security analyst, Adam Bonaa, has called on the country’s security agencies to develop a comprehensive security plan on terrorism and related crimes.
According to him, such plans should include the citizens since they are central to the dissemination of information.
