A former Acting Finance Officer of the University of Education, Winneba Bruno Bajuase Chirani has filed a motion seeking an order of interlocutory injunction at the Winneba High court against the University restraining it from accessing financial documents as he fights his termination from office.
The school’s Vice-Chancellor has also been joined to the suit, pending the determination of his original suit.
According to Bruno Bajuase Chirani, with the issues raised against the University of Education still pending, he does not see why the University will employ the services of Francis Obeng to act as the finance officer.
In the notice of motion for an interlocutory injunction, Bruno Chirani argued that issues such as the termination of his appointment as the acting finance officer by the university are still pending.
He explained that the termination of his appointment as the Acting Finance Officer of the university was as a result of the concerns he raised about expenditure by the Vice-Chancellor of the university Rev. Father Anthony Afful Broni and the Registrar of the school Paul Osei Barimah.
He also indicated that contrary to the usual administrative practices, the letter from the Vice Chancellor of the University terminating his his appointment as the Acting Finance Officer did not state where his next position or office would be.
Bruno Bajuase Chirani also pointed out that his resistance to the payment of monies made to a carpenter which was queried by an auditor and the procurement officer incurred the anger of the Vice-Chancellor who terminated his appointment as the Acting Finance Officer of the university.
“The High Court must exercise its discretion by restraining the Professor Afful Broni and Paul Osei Barimah Esq from having access to financial documents in a situation where they are challenging my appointment” the statement writ read.
