The General Overseer of the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), Reverend Ransford Obeng, has urged political parties to prioritize the basic needs of Ghanaians when crafting their manifestos ahead of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He cited shelter, food and employment as major areas manifestos of the various political parties must focus on since providing Ghanaians with such basic needs will ease their economic burden.
He noted that the manifesto of a political party must be geared towards solving the greater societal problems rather than benefitting a cross-section of the populace.
The outspoken Man of God made the remarks at an interactive session with journalists in Kumasi to announce an upcoming event where the church will host Dr. Mensa Otabil of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).
Reverend Obeng maintained that when political parties make their manifestos a people-centred one, they are able to ensure accountability and nation-building.
“First of all, everybody is looking for shelter, so in their manifesto, they must include how they will help Ghanaians find it easy to get a place to live. Number two, everybody is looking for food to eat to be able to survive. So, in their manifesto, they must make sure that they bring to Ghanaians how best they can feed us. Then also everyone needs to be clothed and they must also include in their manifesto how they can create jobs which will go a long way to reduce and prevent crime. So, we encourage them that they should look at these four basic needs of the human being”, he said
Mensa Otabil will touch lives
Reverend Obeng said the three-day encounter with Dr. Mensa Otabil will be one that will touch the lives of attendees and also usher them into the new decade.
The event which will start on Friday 17th January, 2020 from 6 pm each day will be climaxed with a church service at 8:30 am on Sunday 19th January, 2020.
The CCC Pastor encouraged residents within and outside Kumasi to take full advantage of the event to strengthen their relationship with their maker and also use it to seek favour from God.
He further said “we have different types of Prophets. So, I want everybody to come and listen to the Prophet of our time. Because we have genuine Prophets. If anybody says that all Prophets are bad, I don’t believe that. We have genuine Prophets and they are in the land. So, everybody should come and listen to this genuine Prophet, Dr Mensa Otabil and he is going to speak to all of us”.
The annual event often attracts huge numbers of believers from different parts of the country.
