Mr. Robert Ahomka-Lindsay, a Deputy Ministry of Trade and Industry, has filed his nomination forms to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to journalists after going through the official process to file his forms, Mr Ahomka-Lindsay thanked delegates and supporters for their support and acknowledged the contribution the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Philip Basoah, made to the constituency since he assumed office.
He was however quick to add that Philip Basoah has done his part and it was time to give way for him, Ahomka-Lindsay, to bring jobs, infrastructure and real development to the area.
He indicated that he has the passion to empower the youth with the requisite skills development and job creation.
He asked the delegates to give him the nod in the April 2020 primaries and promised to implement life-changing policies when is finally elected as MP in the 2020 general elections.
“It is not that we don’t believe anybody or we don’t like one person but there is a time for everyone and there is a time for everything. Our incumbent currently has done well. We believe it is time for him to step aside for somebody to take over and project the constituency to the next level,” he noted.
He added that the Kumawu constituency cannot boast of a single industry since 1992 describing such situation as unacceptable.
He however said his style of leadership will be one that will be based on the creation of industries.
The Deputy Minster later donated a television set and a modern office shelf to the party office in the constituency to enable the executives carry out party activities with ease.
The Chairman of the NPP in the Kumawu Constituency, Joseph Danso urged the constituents to continue to uphold peace and unity with the aim of re-electing President Akufo-Addo, for a second term.
