As the final year students of Junior High Schools across the country start their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) today, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Yendi Constituency, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, has distributed 2,500 mathematical sets and other examination materials to the candidates in the constituency.
This year, the Yendi Municipality is presenting a total of 2,194 candidates for the exams.
Presenting the items, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama told Citi News that his checks revealed that, most candidates lack materials such as mathematical sets during examinations, hence the move.
“I had consultations with the Municipal Education Office and some of the parents. And during the process, it was realised that our candidates here usually lack some basic items which is why I have deemed it very prudent to assist.”
He added that ”Education is the passport to the future and it is essential that we prepare today’s children to secure their future tomorrow. I won’t, for that matter, allow any student to fail because of the lack of the necessary examination materials to write his or her papers”.
The Municipal Education office has also presented sanitizers to each candidate.
The Municipal Director of education encouraged the candidates and wished them success in their exams.
